Andrew received his B.A. with distinction in history of science, history of medicine from Yale University in 2011. He graduated with his M.D. degree from Michigan State University in 2016 with Alpha Omega Alpha distinction. During medical school, he pursued a glaucoma research fellowship at the Duke University Eye Center and the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute with a focus on glaucoma genetics. In addition to examining genetic mechanisms of glaucoma, Andrew's research interests also include understanding perspectives on eye donation, promoting patient education in ophthalmology, and improving vision healthcare delivery. His work has been published in several academic journals that include Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and JAMA Ophthalmology. He is currently an ophthalmology resident at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and is planning an academic career in ophthalmology.
